The short version
Some links on Tool Brief are affiliate links. When you click one and end up buying something, we may earn a commission. The price you pay is the same — the commission comes out of the retailer's margin, not your pocket. We mark affiliate links where they appear and we summarise every active relationship below.
Active retailer partnerships
The list below is the complete set of affiliate programmes Tool Brief is enrolled in as of the date above. We update it whenever a relationship starts or stops.
| Retailer | Programme | Commission we earn | Cookie window | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Amazon UK | Amazon Associates | Up to 4% (drills and tools) | 24 hours | Per-category Amazon Associates rates. Tools and Home Improvement 4% at time of writing. |
| Tooled-Up | Awin | 5% | 30 days | UK trade retailer. Strong on DeWalt, Makita, Milwaukee, Bosch. |
| Powertool World | Awin | Variable | Variable | UK trade retailer. Body-only offers checked via our price watch. |
| Power Tools Direct | Awin | Variable | Variable | UK trade retailer. |
| Site Supplies UK | Awin | Minimum 7% | Variable | Smaller Awin-listed retailer. |
Retailers we name in our coverage but where we currently have no active affiliate relationship: Screwfix, Toolstation, B&Q, Wickes, ITS, FFX, Toolden, D&M Tools, ToolStore UK, Erbauer (Screwfix-owned brand), Einhell, Black+Decker. Where we link to these retailers we use plain (non-affiliate) URLs.
How affiliate links are marked
- Every affiliate link carries the HTML attributes
rel="sponsored noopener"andtarget="_blank". - Buying guides and review pages carry an "Affiliate" disclosure block in the article footer summarising which retailers on that page use affiliate links.
- The site footer on every page links back to this disclosure.
What we do not do
- We do not accept payment for a favourable review, a higher ranking, or a positive mention.
- We do not change a verdict or a buying recommendation because a retailer is or is not an affiliate partner.
- We do not write sponsored reviews that pretend to be independent. Sponsored content, where it exists, is labelled "Sponsored" and lives in a distinct visual block.
- We do not collect personally identifiable data on clicks. Affiliate programmes receive a referrer token only.
How we choose what to cover
Affiliate relationships do not affect which tools we cover. The drills in our July 2026 buyer's guide, for example, were selected by torque tier and job fit, not by which manufacturer or retailer has a programme with us. If a drill is genuinely the right answer, we say so. If it isn't, we say that too. Our editorial decisions live in About and Review policy.
Editorial independence
Tool Brief is published by Foundry Works. We do not have retailer shareholders, manufacturer shareholders, or commercial relationships that would compromise editorial independence. Where a tool has been supplied to us for review (rare), we say so at the top of the article. Where it has not, we say that too.
