Freefoam Building Products has published three Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) covering its PVC rainwater and roofline ranges: PVC downpipes, PVC gutter, and PVC fascia, soffit and window trim. Summary documents for the full EPDs are now publicly available.
An EPD is an independently verified document setting out a product's environmental impact across its life cycle, including Global Warming Potential and embodied carbon, calculated per declared unit (in this case, per 1kg of product). The documents cover the full lifecycle: raw material extraction, manufacturing, transport, installation, in-use maintenance, and end-of-life disposal or recycling.
For specifiers and contractors working on projects with embodied carbon targets or sustainability reporting requirements, having verified EPD data for rainwater and roofline products means these figures can be used directly in whole-building carbon calculations or tender responses, rather than relying on generic industry averages. This is becoming more relevant as UK clients, particularly in the public and commercial sectors, increasingly ask for product-level carbon evidence rather than manufacturer claims alone.
