Rhino Products has launched the KammEdge, a new premium roof rack aimed at the common complaints tradespeople have with van roof racks: they're heavy, awkward to fit, and a pain to load. It's the lightest rack Rhino has produced, coming in around 15% lighter than the existing KammRack while retaining a comparable load-carrying capability.
The rack sits lower on the roofline than a traditional design, cutting overall vehicle height while keeping load-carrying strength. The crossbars use Rhino's Kamm-shaped profile, which is designed to let air flow around the bar more cleanly as the van moves, reducing wind noise and drag compared with a standard box-section bar. Construction is premium aluminium, with a full-width rear roller for sliding loads on and off, pre-assembled legs and click-together side frames, all aimed at letting one person fit the rack without a second pair of hands.
For fleet buyers and owner-drivers speccing a new van, the weight saving and lower profile are worth factoring into payload calculations and any height-restricted routes, on top of the usual loading and drag improvements.
