Wooden Windows has launched an online configurator, DoorBuilder, for ordering bespoke external timber doors, aimed at trade professionals and installers who currently rely on quote-and-wait processes for made-to-order joinery. The tool gives instant visuals of the finished door alongside real-time pricing as options are selected, cutting out the back-and-forth typically involved in specifying a custom timber door.

Mark Winter, director at Wooden Windows and sister brand StairBox, said the goal was to bring the same logic StairBox already applies to staircase ordering into timber windows and doors, moving a traditionally slow, craft-based ordering process onto a digital platform. Delivery on doors ordered through the tool is being pitched at a fast turnaround relative to typical bespoke joinery lead times.

For installers who quote timber doors regularly, a configurator that gives firm pricing up front removes one of the more time-consuming parts of pricing a job: waiting on a manual quote before a client can be given a number. Worth testing against your usual supplier's lead times and pricing before switching a regular order over.
